1.0 ATTO FastStream VT Increases Reliability

ATTO FastStream™ Virtual Tape appliances are storage solutions that integrate with disk storage and emulate
a tape library for fast restores on demand and error-free backups of critical data.
The ATTO FastStream Virtual Tape appliance is seen
by system applications as a conventional tape library,
allowing you to use disk-based storage as if it were
tape.
The ATTO FastStream VT delivers immediate
performance improvements to backup, restore and
archive applications.
Adding a disk-based Virtual Tape Library (VTL)
ensures high speed access to your data. The
FastStream VT can be seamlessly integrated into
storage environments as if it were a traditional tape
library. The ATTO FastStream VT also provides high
performance RAID parity protection to disk-based
storage without regard to manufacturer, type of drive,
capacity or speed.
RAID improves data accessibility and reliability during
normal operations, however, you still need a good
backup strategy for long-term protection of your data.
The ATTO FastStream VT is available in 1U industry-
standard rack mount enclosure which is O/S and
platform independent supporting 64 bit OS.
The FastStream VT 5700 features four independent
4-Gigabit Fibre Channel interfaces to integrate
direct attached storage into a high performance
SAN environment

Virtual Tape features

Backup and restore features

• Performs up to 30 concurrent backups for each
Virtual Tape Library (VTL)
• ATTO SpeedRead™ feature ensures
responsive and error-free backup in the shortest
possible time
• Backup and restore data at up to 1.89 TB per

Management and control features

Priority keep the system operational if a drive

• Global Hot Spares ensure continuous operation
if a drive fails. The Hot Spare automatically
comes on-line and rebuild starts if a disk failure

and continued up time by implementing Error
Correcting Checksum (ECC) and Parity checks
on all data paths. Potential corruption cannot go
undetected
• Phone Home error notification automatically
generates an Email alert in the event of a failure
