In Step 1 on the screen, type in a name for your
Virtual Tape Library. Names may be up to 14
characters and may not contain any spaces.

Answer the questions in Step 2 based on the
needs of your software vendor.
• If your storage is RAID protected, the
FastStream does not reconfigure it. If it is
not, the FastStream sets the RAID level.
• Select the number of simultaneous backups
you wish to run, from 1 to 30.
• Select if you want a Hot Spare. The
FastStream rescans the system to
recalculate capacity.

Click Next.

The VTL Setup Summary page appears. If the
configuration is the way you want it, click
Commit . A warning box appears.

Using custom setup

Custom Setup allows you to configure the
FastStream VT to best suit the needs, performance
and level of reliability for your application. If you want
to create more than one VTL, use custom setup. You
may create up to two VTLs.

If you are not already in the ExpressNAV VTL
Manager, type the IP address of your
FastStream in a standard browser. On the
splash screen, click Enter Here. In the box
provided , type in your user name and
password, and click OK .

If you have not yet verified drives, changed the
system configuration or configured another
VTL, the Initial Setup page appears. Select
Custom Setup.
If you have initialized or verified drives,
changed the system configuration or created a
VTL, the Monitor VTL page appears.

In the warning box, verify that you want to add
the VTL by selecting Yes .
Note
Selecting No returns you to the Monitor VTL
page. The Quick Configuration is no longer
available and you must use the instructions in
Using custom setup

The Virtual Tape Library Setup page appears.
If you select Configure Another, the VTL
Custom Configuration page reappears with
fields to be completed as listed in the procedure
Using custom
setup. Connect the number of
drives required by the custom setup you desire
and continue with the procedure.
a. From the left menu, click Manage .
b. The Manage VTL page appears. Select
Virtual Tape Libraries .
c. Select Create Virtual Tape Library .

Click Next .

Type a name for your Virtual Tape Library in the
box provided on the page under the Step 1
label.

In Step 2 , select a RAID level. Refer to
RAID Groups
on page iii in the Appendix for
more information.
