1.1 FastStream VT 5700 Physical Attributes

The ATTO FastStream VT 5700 is a Fibre Channel to Fibre Channel storage appliance which can be seamlessly
integrated into a new or existing backup environment.
The ATTO FastStream VT 5700 is available in an
industry-standard 1U form factor for easy integration
into industry-standard racks. Refer to

Cooling and airflow

Operating Temperature: 0°-40° C external

Airflow: air enters through slots on the right of the
rear panel and exits through slots on the left of the rear
panel.

Do not block the enclosure's vents. The
FastStream VT 5700 does not allow data
transfer if overheating occurs.

Power

Input voltage: 100-240VAC, 1.7-.7A, 50-60 Hz
Battery-backed event log: A rechargeable Lithium
ion battery cell holds the event log memory for up to 30
days. If the FastStream VT 5700 has been
disconnected from power, recharging begins
automatically when power is restored to the system.
The battery is fully charged after 36 hours of
continuous power application.

Fibre Channel ports

The four independent 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel ports

use Small Formfactor Pluggable (SFP) interface and
multimode fiber optic cable. Make sure all cables are
anchored securely at both ends with the proper
connectors.
Ports 1 and 2 connect to the host. Ports 3 and 4
connect to devices. Refer to

Management ports

A 10/100 Ethernet standard RJ45 management port
provides monitoring and management.
The RS-232 serial port provides
support for remote monitoring and
management using a DB9
connector. The baud rate is
programmable and preset at the
factory to 115200 bps.

Reset/restore factory default switch

To reset the FastStream, briefly insert a tool in the hole
in the back panel.
To restore factory defaults, insert the tool in the hole in
the back panel for more than four seconds until the
green Ready LED blinks.

LED indicators

The LED indicators can be viewed from the back or the
front side of the FastStream VT 5700.
LEDs on the connector side are:
A bicolor Ready/Fault LED lights green to indicate
ready, lights yellow to indicate a faulted condition, and
is off to indicate not ready.
Embedded in the Ethernet port connector: a
lighted green LED indicates a valid link. Off indicates
that no link is present. A separate blinking yellow LED
indicates activity.
Fibre Channel port: A lighted green LED indicates
an active link. Off means there is no link. A separate
green LED indicates activity if it is illuminated but
indicates no activity if it is off.
