The Lightning Detection System (LDS) on the aircraft is referred to by it’s trademark name Stormscope®. Stormscope is a passive thunderstorm detection sensor. The sensor maps electrical discharge activity 360 degrees around the aircraft to a distance of 200 nautical miles for display on the GPS 400W display.
