Testing the Drain System

3. To prevent liquid from flowing back into the system, the entire drain
tubing must remain below the drain port. Avoid the formation of
siphons.
TIP To allow the waste liquid flowing off properly and avoid liquid
accumulation in the system base, the end of the waste line must not be
submerged in waste liquid (see figure below):
Shorten the tubing if required.
Observe the liquid level in the waste container. Empty the waste
container as necessary.

Check the drain system for proper drainage of waste:
1. Pour water or isopropanol into the drain in the solvent rack.
2. Verify that the liquid leaves the system at the system drain port and
into the waste container.
3. If a leak is visible, find and eliminate the problem.
