8. Remove the locking plate on the left side of the printer. Push up
the bottom of the tab securing the locking plate to the waste ink
tray, then pull out the locking plate to the left.

C A U T I O N
Be careful not to damage the clear, round paper feed
encoder wheel when removing the locking plate.

9. Remove the waste ink tray by pulling it out the bottom of the
printer.
NOTE: You may need to release the locking tab on the right
side of the printer while removing the tray. Detach the
control panel's ribbon cable where it adheres to the
right side of the printer to get a better view of the
locking tab.
A D J U S T M E N T
After the replacing the waste ink pads with new ones, do
R E Q U I R E D
the following to reset the ink overflow counter:
1. Hold down the Load/Eject and Cleaning buttons, then
turn on the printer.
2. Hold down the Cleaning button for 10 seconds.

taken out without removing the pump. See

1. Remove the following:
" Upper case as described in
page 40
" Control panel as described in
page 40
" Waste ink tray as described in
on page 45
2. Detach the control panel cable where it adheres to the right sub
frame.
3. Remove the two No.1 screws securing the right sub frame to the
printer, then pull off the subframe as shown in Figure 4-16.
