slide the carriage over the thickness gauge.
6. Bring the paper thickness lever to the front (0) position.
7. If the printhead doesn't touch the gauge, decrease the platen gap
by moving the right parallelism bushing to the rear until it touches.
(The thickness gauge should move when you slide the carriage a
little to the left or right.) Then set the bushing forward by one
notch. (The thickness gauge should no longer move.)
If the printhead touches the gauge, increase the platen gap by
moving the bushing forward until it no longer touches. Then set
the bushing back by one notch.
8. Set the paper thickness lever to the rear (+) position.
9. Remove the thickness gauge and set it on the left end of the
platen, as shown in Figure 5-2.
10. Slide the carriage over the gauge.
11. Bring the paper thickness lever to the front (0) position, and then
perform the adjustment on the left bushing the same way as you
did for the right.
12. After completing the adjustment on the left bushing, perform the
adjustment once more on the right bushing to confirm the
adjustment.
13. When the platen gap is the same at both ends of the printer,
