5.3 Using the Adjustment Program

Before running the adjustment program, make sure the computer
you're using is set up properly. See "Setting Up Your Computer"
below. Then start the program as described in
Adjustment Program"
on page 73

5.3.1 Setting Up Your Computer

For the adjustment program to work properly, you must:
! Use only Windows 98.
! Perform all adjustments using a parallel cable. The cable must be
connected before starting the adjustment program, and it can only
use LPT 1.

! Make sure LPT1 is not set as an ECP Printer Port. (If it is, you must
first delete all printer drivers. Then from the Control Panel, access

Then reboot your system.)
! Make sure EPSON Status Monitor is turned off, if the printer driver
is installed. (Close the printer icon on the task bar before starting
the program.)
Install the program by following these steps:
1. Locate the CD or diskettes containing the adjustment program for
the Stylus Photo 870/1270.
2. Double-click Setup.exe and follow the instructions in the installer
to set up the adjustment program.
If you want to remove the program from your computer, use the Add/
Remove Programs utility in the Windows Control Panel.

5.3.2 Starting the Adjustment Program

1. Make sure your printer is connected and turned on, as described in
the previous section. Then select Stylus Photo 870/1270 in the
Adjustment Program folder to execute the program. You see the
screen below.
