1.1 Features

This section describes the main features of the EPSON Stylus Photo
870 and Stylus Photo 1270. For detailed specifications, see the
"Specifications"
on page 96.

The EPSON Stylus Photo 870 and Stylus Photo 1270 are designed for
both home use and office use. As the enhanced models of Stylus
Photo 750 and Stylus Photo 1200, they offer greater performance in
both print speed and quality. Their main features are:
High-quality color printing
! High-speed 1440
×
720 dpi bi-directional printing
! 6 ink colors (black, cyan, magenta, yellow, light cyan, light
magenta)
! Microweave printing to reduce banding
Two built-in interfaces
! Bidirectional parallel interface (IEEE-1284 level 1 device)
! USB interface
Auto sheet feeder supports multiple sizes of paper:
! 100 cut sheets
! 10 envelopes
! 30 sheets of transparency film
The EPSON Stylus Photo 870/1270 also feature quiet DC motors for
smooth, precise operation.
In addition, a built-in chip on each ink cartridge keeps track of the
amount of ink in the cartridge. This lets the user take a cartridge out
and put the same one back in at a later time without the printer losing
track of the amount of remaining ink. For more information about

1.2 Control Panel Operation

The control panel includes four buttons and four LED indicator lights,
as shown below:
