EPSON Stylus Photo 870/1270
After identifying the type of error indicated by the control panel lights,
see the following table for a list of possible causes. Then follow the
links in the table for detailed troubleshooting procedures.

1. Failure in feeding paper.

be loose.

2. The encoder strip has come off or slipped out of the
encoder, located at the back of the carriage.
3. The ASF sensor has come off.
The connector for the ASF sensor is disconnected.
4. The ASF sensor is defective or does not detect the
ASF home position in any situation.
5. The paper feed encoder sensor is defective or does
not detect the bands on the encoder wheel.
6. The coil of the carriage motor is burned out.
7. The coil of the paper feed motor is burned out.
8. The coil of the ASF/Pump motor is burned out.
9. ASF gear 32 disengaged from combination gear 14,28
in the disengage assembly.
10. The spring came off the locking pin and the hook on
the disengage assembly.
11.Timing belt tension may be loose.
12.The carriage lock lever position does not disengage
correctly.
