9. Free the hopper latch on the right side of the hopper assembly by
passing it inward through the hole in the side of the ASF frame. (It
helps to compress the spring behind the right roller assembly
while freeing the latch.) Then remove the hopper assembly
together with the right and left ASF rollers.
C A U T I O N
Don't smear grease from the hopper release cams onto
any other parts. If this happens, wipe off the grease
completely.

The black roller assembly goes on the right side of the
R E A S S E M B L Y
drive shaft and the beige one goes on the left.
"
After installing the sensor wheel, try pulling it off the
shaft. If it's loose, press it on more securely.
It's important to orient the hopper release cams and other
parts correctly:

The notches near the hub on each hopper release cam
should face left, as shown below.
"
The hopper release cams should point in the same
direction as the flat part of the feed rollers (upward in
the diagram shown below).
"
When installing the sensor wheel, make sure its hole
points the same direction as the hopper release cams.

4.2.13 Removing the Paper Loading Rollers

1. Disassemble the auto sheet feeder (see
(EPSON Stylus Photo 870)"
(EPSON Stylus Photo 1270)"
2. Remove the two compression springs that fit between the hopper
assembly and the paper loading rollers. Then remove the paper
loading rollers from the hopper.
3. Release the two hooks securing the paper loading roller cover to
the roller, as shown in Figure 4-51.
4. Release the two hooks securing the paper loading roller to the
shaft hole of the roller, also shown in Figure 4-51.
C A U T I O N
Don't touch the surface of the rubber roller with your
bare hands.
