1.2.1 LED Indicators

During normal operation, the printer's LEDs indicate the following:
! Power
Comes on when the power switch is on and AC power is supplied.
Blinks when the printer receives data, during cleaning operations,
and under certain error conditions.
! Paper Out
Comes on when the printer runs out of paper, and blinks during a
paper jam.
! Ink Out (Black)
Comes on when out of black ink, and blinks if ink is low.
! Ink Out (Color)
Comes on when out of color ink, and blinks if ink is low.
The printer can also indicate other status and error conditions; see
"Troubleshooting Using Control Panel Lights"

1.2.2 Button Functions During Normal Operation

The table below describes button functions during normal operation.
Table 1-1. Button Functions
Button
• Loads or ejects paper.
Load / Eject
• Returns the printhead from the ink cartridge
replacement position to the capping position.
Ink Cartridge Replacement • Starts the ink cartridge replacement sequence.
• Moves the carriage to the cartridge replacement
position.
• Returns the carriage from the ink cartridge
replacement position.
• Starts a head cleaning.
Cleaning
• Starts the ink cartridge replacement sequence when
(Push for 3 seconds)
the ink out lights are flashing or on, or if no ink
cartridge is installed.
• Returns the carriage from the ink cartridge
replacement position.

1.2.3 Button Functions at Power On

You can access certain functions by holding down one of the buttons
listed below while pressing the Power button. These functions are not
intended for users.

Prints status sheet.

Changes code pages and Selects IEEE1284.4 mode for
parallel interface.
Load/Eject + Cleaning
Enters the Special Settings mode. See

1.2.4 Special Settings Mode

The Special Settings mode lets you reset certain timers and counters.
Use it when carrying out repairs such as replacing the waste ink pads.
To enter the Special Settings mode, press the Load/Eject button and
Cleaning button while turning on the printer. The Paper Out LED starts
to blink. Within three seconds (while it's blinking), press one of the
buttons listed below to perform the desired function:
