4. On the EPSON Stylus Photo 870, use a small screwdriver to
release the hook securing the small left paper guide to the frame,
as shown below, and remove the left paper guide by pushing it
through to the back of the printer. (The EPSON Stylus Photo 1270
doesn't have this paper guide.)

5. Remove the three No.1 screws securing the front frame and the
three No. 1 screws securing the paper eject frame and remove the
frames, as shown below.

6. Remove the paper feed grounding spring at the left end of the
paper feed roller near the paper eject frame.
7. Remove the front paper guide (platen) by releasing the two hooks
(EPSON Stylus Photo 870) or four hooks (EPSON Stylus
Photo 1270) securing it to the paper eject roller shaft, as shown in
Figure 4-63.
8. Remove the grounding spring from the left end of the paper eject
roller.
9. Release the white plastic locking tabs securing the ends of the
paper eject roller and then lift out the roller, as shown in
Figure 4-63.
