Manual seat functions

INFORMATION
On power wheelchairs with gas compression springs, it is
necessary to check for leaking oil around the piston rod.
Leaks reduce the functional capabilities of the gas com-
pression springs and may cause them to fail.
Defective gas compression springs (e.g. scratches or
damage to the piston rod caused by impact; deformation
of the cylinder tube) must be replaced immediately.
Piston rods do not require lubrication. They are mainte-
nance-free.

7.2.1 Safety instructions

WARNING
Risk of pinching due to exposed pinch points in the seat
adjustment area
„ Note that when manual seat options are used, inherent
pinch and shear points are located between the seat
frame and the power wheelchair frame.
„ Ensure that no body parts, such as hands or feet, are in
the danger area while manual seat options are used.
Skippi Plus
„ Ensure that no interfering objects, such as clothing or
other obstacles, are in the danger area while manual
seat options are used.

7.2.2 Mechanical seat tilt

WARNING
Danger of pinching and crushing due to unintentional
lowering of the seat tilt. Note that the seat can drop sud-
denly if the release lever is operated while the seat is tilted.
A mechanical seat tilt adjustment powered by a gas com-
pression spring is also available for the Skippi. This seat tilt
adjustment is operated with a release lever at the push han-
dles. The mechanical seat tilt function allows the seat to be
tilted up to 20°, for example to relieve pressure.
