„ The batteries can be charged at any time, regardless of
the remaining battery capacity.
„ It takes about 16 hours until a discharged battery (only
one flashing segment) is completely charged. When the
charging process is complete, the battery charger can
remain connected to the power wheelchair with no risk
of overcharging or damaging the battery. The battery
charger features a programmed recharging phase that
will maintain the battery capacity at the level that has
been reached.
„ For daily use, connecting the charger overnight is recom-
mended so that the full capacity is available every day.
„ The batteries will gradually discharge if the wheelchair is
not used for extended periods of time. If the power wheel-
chair is not driven for extended periods of time, a charg-
ing cycle must be carried out at least once per week in
order to maintain the battery capacity. Removing the
fuse if the wheelchair is not used for extended periods of
time is recommended.
„ The batteries should never be fully discharged (deep dis-
charge).
„ The power wheelchair control unit must be switched off
while the batteries are charging to allow all of the charg-
ing current to be fed into the battery.
Skippi Plus
The following must be observed when charging the batter-
ies:
„ Only the battery charger provided by Ottobock may be
used for charging. Failure to comply will void the warran-
ty.
„ The voltage settings on the battery charger must corre-
spond to the mains voltage used in your country.

6.5.2 Charger

WARNING
Explosion hazard due to sparks. The battery charger
must always be switched off and the mains plug removed
before disconnecting the battery.
NOTICE
Unauthorised battery replacement. Batteries may only
be replaced by a specialist dealer. The characteristic
charging curve programmed in the charger at the factory
matches the supplied battery and may not be changed in-
dependently. Setting the characteristic curve incorrectly
can result in permanent damage to the battery.
The battery charger is designed for AGM batteries (mainte-
nance-free batteries). The charger is programmed with the
