4.12 Segment LCD backlight installation

Note 1: Display backlight installation is to be performed only when the ECR is off and the external power
supply is disconnected.
Note 2: Check prior the installation whether all parts necessary for backlight installation are available. In
order to avoid any trouble, it is recommended to purchase a complete installation set.

Backlight installation procedure:
1. Dismantle the ECR as shown in the chapter 4.10.
2. Unplug the segment LCD connector from the Inter-
connect PCB and release the fixing screws of the
segment LCD.
3. Insert the LED backlight under the LCD from the
side where entry is not obstructed by electrolytic
capacitors (see figure).
4. Solder the backlight to the display PCB onto D1
facets. Surplus connecting wire can be used in
soldering.
5. Solder the parts:
1 pc. C-MOS 2SK1079 transistor onto Q1
facet.
2 pcs. LL4148 diodes onto D2 and D3 facets,
watch the polarity.
1 pc. 100k resistor, SMD 1206, 5 % onto R3 facet.
1 pc. 3R9 resistor, 0.6 Ω onto R4 facet.
6. Plug the segment LCD connector into the Interconnect PCB.
7. Assemble the covers as shown in chapter 4.1.
8. Check the segment LCD backlight functionality according to the User manual, chapter 2.5.2.

4.13 Connection of the external ECR drawer

The external ECR drawer that can be connected to Euro-500TX Handy has to conform to these criteria:
a) solenoid driven opening mechanism, no other electronics or interface,
b) solenoid maximum at 24 V at maximum current 1 A,
c) solenoid resistance minimum 24 Ω.
