Testing procedure for the alphanumerical LCD:
1. All segments of the alphanumerical LCD will show full characters (eve-
rything is lit).
2. After this, the top row starts to gradually display numerals 0–9 and the
bottom row will display characters from A to J.
After the characters stop flashing on the LCD and the ECR beeps twice, the
test is over. Test duration is approx. 30 seconds. If any errors occurred, see
chapter 6.4 for instructions.

5.2 Printer tests

The printer tests allow easy diagnostics of printer or printer circuit function-
ality.

5.2.1 Printing test

Procedure:
1. Switch the ECR into programming mode.
2. Enter '200' using numerical keys.
3. Press the [Multiply] key.
Testing procedure:
1. Identification data for the Euro-500TX Handy will be printed on both
receipt and journal – version number, configuration (number of DPTs,
PLUs...), serial communication capability, fiscal mode capability and
whether the external keyboard is attached.
2. Entire character set is then printed.
The test ends when the printing stops and ECR beeps twice.
In case of any printing difficulties, consult chapter 6.3 for instructions.

5.2.2 Thermal head position test

Procedure:
1. Switch the ECR into programming mode.
2. Enter '201' using numerical keys.
3. Press the [Multiply] key.
Testing procedure:
1. Display shows the current printer head position.
2. By moving the head lifting mechanism, the display shows different
states for the head position accordingly.
Test ends by pressing an arbitrary key.
If anything fails, consult chapter 6.3 for instructions.

5.2.3 Paper presence sensor test

Procedure:
1. Switch the ECR into programming mode.
2. Enter '202' using numerical keys.
3. Press the [Multiply] key.
Testing procedure:
1. The display shows the current presence of individual paper tapes.
2. By sliding the paper tapes in and out of the printer, the displayed values
shall change accordingly.
Test ends by pressing any key.
If the paper presence sensors do not work or produce wrong results, con-
sult the chapter 6.3.
