5.6.2 FM data writing tests

The FM data writing tests allow the diagnostics of the data writing process
reliability. These tests write two bytes "AA" and "55" into the FM testing area.
The first writing of the "AA" byte is performed at address 1FE00 and the first
writing for the "55" byte is performed at 1FE40. Any further test execution
shift the addresses by one, therefore only 64 test runs are possible.
Procedure:
1. Switch the ECR into programming mode.
2. Enter '720' using numerical keys.
3. Press the [Multiply] key.
Testing procedure:
1. The checking data are read and verified from the FM.
2. From the 1FE00 address the first free byte is found and value "AA" is
written there.
3. From the 1FE40 address the first free byte is found and value "55" is
written there.
4. The test summary is both displayed and printed out.
Error description (XX) is defined as:
1X – first checking item was not properly read and/or verified.
2X – second checking item was not properly read and/or verified.
30 – the "AA" byte was not properly written.
40 – the "55" byte was not properly written.
If the FM writing test is evaluated as incorrect, perform the following tests,
one by one.

5.6.3 FM working voltages test

The proper reading and writing of data from/to FM is strongly dependant on
the voltage values of VFD and VFP voltages. These voltages depend from
their control signal, VPP-GEN. This test allows the measuring of above-
mentioned voltages using a simple voltmeter by means of controlling the
VPP-GEN signal.
Procedure:
1. Switch the ECR into programming mode.
2. Enter '720' using numerical keys.
3. Press the [Multiply] key.
Testing procedure:
1. In approx. 1.2 s intervals the VPP-GEN signal level is changed, alto-
gether three times.
2. The test results appear shortly on the display and are printed on the
printer.
Correct values:
VPP-GEN = "log. 1"
VPP-GEN = "log. 0"
If these voltages do not correspond to the measured values, consult the
chapter 6.8 for further instructions.

5.6.4 FM control signals test 1

The FM control signals FM-SEL, FM-PGM, FM-DIR, FM-AH, FM-AL, and
A16 are vital for the proper FM data reading and writing. This test checks
the FM-SEL, FM-PGM, and FM-DIR signals for proper signalisation. The
voltage values for these signals can be measured using a simple voltme-
ter.
