2.1.7 NiMH accumulator charging circuit

The accumulator charging is controlled by the BQ2000 integrated circuit that contains the complete service
and checking of the rapid charging process of the NiMH accumulator. All accumulators are charged using
the constant current of approx. 400 mA and the charging process is finished when the slight drop in accumu-
lator voltage has been detected (a property of the NiMH accumulators when they are fully charged to more
than 0.2 C). The BQ2000 contains also the accumulator temperature protection for safety reasons and the
timer that terminates the charging process if the previous measures should fail.
The connexion with the T4 transistor ensures the total disconnection of accumulators from the other power
source circuits during the charging process so the voltage drop of the fully charged accumulator could be
reliably detected.
