A Sercos connection consists of a 16-bit header (IDN/S-0-1050.x.8 "Connec‐
tion Control (C-CON)"), the information on the connection state and the trans‐
mitted user data it contains.

With I/O devices, a connection's user data can be configured in two ways by
the master via parameter IDN/S-0-1050.x.1 "Connection Setup": as an IDN
list or a container connection with a predefined context.
Configuration with an IDN list
The configuration with an IDN list is performed via IDN/S-0-1050.x.6 "Config‐
uration List". All process data parameters that are to be transmitted into the
respective connection are entered in this list.
With a consumer connection, only IDN parameters may be entered here that
are contained in list IDN/S-0-0188 IDN-list of configurable data as consumer.
In addition, parameter IDN/S-0-1500.0.1 "IO Control" (C-RES) is to be config‐
ured in at least one consumer connection.
