: Pull the air flap shaft out of the
end cover.
: Pull the ring (1) and O-ring (2) off
the dismantled air flap shaft.
– Clean the air flap shaft and
guides.
– Examine the air flap shaft for
signs of damage and replace it if
necessary.
– Reassemble parts in reverse
order.
– Check correct functioning and
easy movement.
– Turn the air flap shaft until the flat
side of the shaft faces
downwards.

: Use a suitable tool to push the air
flap (1) into the air flap shaft on
the throttle shutter side.
Note:
When fitting the air flap, the marks
(arrow) must be visible as an
indentation and be located behind
the bore.
– Insert the screw on the flat side of
the shaft and tighten it down
moderately.
– Close the air flap and centre it in
the bore of the end cover.
– Tighten the screw (arrow).
– Tightening torques, b 3.6
– Check correct functioning and
easy movement.
– Secure the screw with Loctite,
b 14.
– Check correct functioning again.

12.3.8 Air flap rod

If only the rod (1) has broken, it can
be replaced without removing and
adjusting the two levers (arrows).
: Remove the circlip (arrow) with a
suitable tool.

: Unhook the rod (1) from the air
flap lever (arrow).
