Rope rotor

– Remove the starter cover, b 9.2
– Remove the spring and take the
pawls out of the rope rotor, b 9.3
Relieve tension of rewind spring
– Pull out the starter rope about
5 cm and hold the rope rotor
steady.
– Still holding the rope rotor steady,
take three full turns off the rope
rotor.
– Carefully release the rope rotor.
– Pull out the rope with the starter
grip and carefully release the
rope rotor.
The system will not be under
tension if the starter rope or rewind
spring is broken.

: Remove the washer (1) from the
starter post.
The rewind spring must be relieved.
– Carefully pull the rope rotor off
the starter post.

– Remove the starter rope or
remaining rope from the rope
rotor.
– Remove any remaining rope from
the starter cover if necessary.
– Install a new starter rope,
b 9.5
: Fit the rotor on the starter post so
that the inner loop of the spring
(arrow) enters the recess (1) in
the hub of the rope rotor.
The recess in the hub of the rope
rotor acts as carrier for the spring
loop.
– Reassemble remaining parts in
reverse order.
: Position the spring so that the
loops of the spring enclose the
pegs of the pawls (arrows) and
the straight part of the spring is
located in the groove in the
starter post.
– Then press the U-bar on the
spring into the groove.

– Tension the rewind spring, b 9.6
– Grease the pegs of the pawls,
b 14
