: Unscrew the spark plug (1).
: Undo screws (arrows).
– Remove the air guide shroud.
– Reassemble parts in reverse
order.
– Tightening torques, b 3.6

Cylinder and piston

7.6.1

Removal

Before removing the cylinder,
decide whether or not the
crankshaft is to be removed.
With the cylinder in place:
The piston must be blocked to
prevent the crankshaft turning in
order to remove the flywheel and
clutch.
– Remove muffler, b 7.1
– Remove shroud, b 7.4
– Expose cylinder, b 7.5
: Release hose clips (arrows).
Note:
The hose clips must be unscrewed
right up to the end of their screw
threads for easy assembly.
: Take out the screws through the
holes (arrows) in the cylinder.
: Carefully lift the cylinder up,
pulling the three elbow flanges
(arrows) off the cylinder at the
same time.
Note:
Do not use pointed or sharp-edged
tools for this job.
: Carefully draw the cylinder off the
piston.

: Remove the cylinder gasket (1).
– Examine the cylinder for damage
and scores and replace if
necessary.
– Always fit a new piston if a new
cylinder has to be installed.
