6 Basics
Selection of Control Mode (Fig. 7; Fig. 8; Fig. 9)
In order to achieve optimal customization, two program variations are available for the DMC plus
Control as well as for the Digital Twin control. These programs can be selected by inserting or
removing the 13E185 Coding Plug. Before choosing the Control Mode partially pull down the
Inner Hand in order to access the Coding Plug.
Afterwards pull the Inner Hand back on. To reset the system so that it will recognize the new con-
trol mode, you must remove the battery, then re-insert it.
Descriptions of the operating mode functions can be found with their respective controls.
Motor Connection - Coding Plug Connection
The Motor is always connected to the electronics at the connection marked 'M', the Coding Plug
at the connection marked 'S'. This is independent of left or right hand direction (Fig. 5).
ON/OFF Switch
The ON/OFF Switch (Fig. 6) is operated by the amputee through the Inner Hand and Prosthetic
Glove. To avoid accidental release the ON/OFF Switch must be held for approx. 1 second to
activate/deactivate the prosthesis.
7 Description and function 8E44=6,
Control
DMC plus
The 8E44=6 Transcarpal Hand is equipped with a proportional DMC plus Control. The DMC
plus Control is contained in a black housing with a black adjustment ring. The hand cable of
the hand is marked with a brown ring.
The transcarpal hand with the DMC plus control unit is delivered with the function plug con-
nected in DMC mode.
For ideal adaptation to the patient, there are two programing variations that can be selected with
the 13E185 Function Plug:
7.1 Function plug connected (Factory Settings Fig. 7)
The function is identical to the already familiar DMC Control. The grip speed and grip force are
precisely determined by the height of the muscle signals. If the strength of the muscle signals
changes, the grip speed and grip force adapt immediately and proportionately to the changed
muscle signal.
