20.9 Locating wire breaks

For the purpose of locating a wire break in a ↑ loop, the ↑ detector line can be
supplied via just the forward connection or the backward connection.
If the ↑ detector line is switched off, the 'Stub line forward' and 'Stub line
backward' commands are not available.
If a ↑ stub has been configured, the 'Stub line forward' and 'Stub line backward'
commands are not available.
When the ↑ 'Station' is restarted, the 'Stub line forward' or 'Stub line backward'
supply mode is not retained.
ϖ You have already commissioned the interactive detector line.
ϖ The line is in ↑ normal operation.
1. In the main menu, select 'Topology' > 'Hardware tree' > ↑ 'Station' > ↑ Line
card > ↑ Detector line.
2. Press the 'More Options' softkey and select 'Execute commands'.
3. Select the 'Stub line forward' or 'Stub line backward' command.
 Only the devices on the selected connection are supplied with power.
 The 'Station' displays error messages for the devices on the connection
that is not being supplied with power.
4. Identify the location of the wire break.
Analyze the messages for the missing devices.

Check the line voltage.
Wire break successfully located
1. Go to the 'Hardware tree' and navigate to the ↑ detector line.
2. Select 'Execute commands' > 'Restart line'.
Wire break not located
If the wire break could not be located by supplying the selected connection, try
supplying the connection in the opposite direction instead.
1. Select the 'Stub line forward' or 'Stub line backward' command, which must be
the opposite of the one you selected initially.
 Only the devices on the selected connection are supplied with power.
 The ↑ 'Station' displays error messages for the devices on the connection
that is not being supplied with power.
2. Identify the location of the wire break.
Analyze the messages for the missing devices.
and/or
Check the line voltage.
3. If you are able to locate the wire break, follow the steps described under 'Wire
break successfully located'.
