Turn the reservoirs (2) upside down and place them so
that the sealed parts are over the openings of the bat-
tery cells.
N
Press on the reservoirs (2) so that the seals break and
the acid is allowed to pour into the battery cells.
NOTE
Make sure the reservoirs (2) are positioned
above the battery as vertically as possible to enable the
liquid to flow out.
N
Leave the reservoirs (2) in place on the battery for ap-
prox. twenty minutes, checking the liquid flows out
properly.

CAUTION
Do not remove the reservoirs (2) from the battery un-
til all the liquid has poured out.
N
Should any liquid still be left in the reservoirs (2) once
the twenty minutes are up, tap your fingers on the top of
the reservoirs to help the remaining liquid out.
N
Lift the reservoirs (2) with care, disengaging them from
the battery.
N
Place the row of stoppers (3) over the battery cell open-
ings.
N
Press down firmly until the tops of the stoppers (3) are
flush with the top of the battery.

CAUTION
The row of stoppers (3) must NEVER be removed.
N
Connect the battery to a battery charger.
N
Subject the battery to a normal charge cycle see 2.4.2
(RECHARGING THE BATTERY).
N
Refit the battery on the vehicle on being returned to the
customer.

6.11.2 BATTERY MAINTENANCE

If the vehicle remains unused for more than fifteen
days, the battery must be recharged to prevent sulpha-
tion, recharge the battery using a normal charge, see
2.4.2 (RECHARGING THE BATTERY).
N
Smear a film of neutral grease or vaseline on the termi-
nals.

6.11.3 CHECKING THE BATTERY

Should any anomalies be encountered, first check the re-
charging circuit, making sure that it is working correctly,
see 6.3 (CHECKING THE RECHARGING SYSTEM).
In addition, make sure that:
N
There are no signs of damage (external case cracked)
and no electrolyte leak.
N
The terminals are securely fastened to the clamps.
N
Proceed with the normal charge for at least 10 hours,
see 2.4.2 (RECHARGING THE BATTERY).

CAUTION
After recharging, check the no-load voltage; if it is
lower than 12 V, it is absolutely necessary to change
the battery.

6.11.4 RETURN UNDER GUARANTEE BATTERY

The guarantee is not valid if the battery features:
N
Damage (dented box, bent poles, etc.).
N
Widespread sulphation (incorrect activation and/or use
of the battery).
