7.3.14 ASSEMBLING THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS
If provided:
N
Remove the rear wheel bearings, see 7.3.13 (DISAS-
SEMBLING THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS).
Work on the right side of the wheel:
NOTE Have the appropriate special tool m to hand:
– aprilia part# 8140180 (bearing extractors).
N
Using the appropriate pad, insert the right bearing (5)
completely.
NOTE
The right bearing must be inserted until its con-
tact with the wheel hub shoulder is complete (Y).
N
Insert the elastic ring (3).
NOTE
The elastic ring (3) is provided only on the right
side of the wheel.
Work from the left-hand side of the wheel:
N
Insert the spacer (4).
NOTE Have the appropriate special tool m to hand:
– aprilia part# 8140180 (bearing extractors).
N
Use a special pad to insert the left bearing (6).
NOTE
The complete insertion of the left bearing (6) will
bring the following components into contact:
– right bearing (5);
– spacer (4);
– left bearing (6).

CAUTION
After the contact with the right bearing (5) do not
push further, in order to avoid forcing the snap ring
(3).

NOTE
Once the left bearing (6) has been inserted,
check the coaxiality of the following components:
– right bearing (5);
– spacer (4);
– left bearing (6).
Work from the right-hand side:
N
Install a new seal (2).
N
Insert the spacer ring (1) with its longer diameter to-
wards the outside of the vehicle.
