Prerequisites for commissioning

Your system with C230-2 is installed
Your system with C230-2 is wired
For networking via PROFIBUS DP
S
The PROFIBUS addresses of the bus nodes with which the C230-2
communicates are set
S
The terminating resistors are switched on (at segment ends)
For networking via Ethernet
S
The Ethernet addresses of the bus nodes with which the C230-2
communicates are set
Software requirements
The programming device (PG/PC) must have a Pentium CPU (central processing
unit) II (500 MHz) and at least a 256-MByte RAM (recommended: 512 MBytes).
The screen resolution must not be less than 800 x 600 pixels.
Windows NT (as of V4.0 + Service Pack 5 or higher) or Windows 2000 (Service
Pack 1 or higher), the STEP 7 program (as of V5.1 + Service Pack 2 or higher)
and SIMOTION SCOUT (as of V2.0 or higher) must be installed on the program-
ming device (PG) or standard PC.
We recommend the standard mouse driver from Windows NT 4.0 SP5.
Note:
Please take not of the information on the current CD for "SIMOTION
SCOUT"!
In order to fully utilize all the functions, the Internet Explorer V5.0 or higher should
be installed on your computer.
For online operation for communication over PROFIBUS DP, a connection must be
made between the PG/PC to the C230-2 (connector X8 or X9) (see Fig. 6-1).
For online operation for communication via Ethernet, a connection must be made
between the PG/PC and the C230-2 (connector X7) (see Fig. 6-1).
The programming device must have either a PROFIBUS card or an Ethernet card.
You require an MMC adapter to be able to write the Micro Memory Card
(SIMOTION Kernel update) on the PG/PC (see Section 8.4).
