Ethernet subnet

Overview
You can connect a Fast Industrial Ethernet to the 8-pin RJ45 socket X7 (see
Fig. 6-1).
Fast Industrial Ethernet is a communication network with a transmission rate of
10/100 Mbit/s.
You can communicate with STEP 7, SIMOTION SCOUT and SIMATIC NET OPC
via a PG/PC.
The networking is carried out via a twisted pair cable. For further information, refer
to the manual SIMATIC NET, Industrial Twisted Pair and Fiber Optic Networks,
refer to the List of References for the order number.
The following connection cables are recommended:
S SIMATIC NET, Ind. Ethernet TP XP CORD RJ45/RJ45, TP CORT pre-fabri-
cated with 2 RJ45 connectors, crossed transmit and receiving line
Order no.: 6XV1850-2HVVV (VVV – length code)
S SIMATIC NET, Ind. Ethernet TP CORD RJ45/RJ45, TP CORT pre-fabricated
with 2 RJ45 connectors
Order no.: 6XV1850-2GVVV (VVV – length code)
You can receive further information on the wiring possibilities for Ethernet from
your SIEMENS contact person.
Configuration via PROFIBUS DP
For the configuration via Fast Industrial Ethernet, the C230-2 must be supplied
with an IP address, the subnet dialog box and the router address.
For the configuration and transfer of the Ethernet addresses to the C230-2, pro-
ceed as follows:
1. Open your project.
2. Open HW Config. Double-click the C230-2 to open the Properties – C230-2
dialog box.
3. On the "General" tab, click the Properties button of the Ethernet interface. The
Properties – C230-2 Ethernet Interface dialog box opens.
4. Click the New tab in this dialog box. The New Industrial Ethernet Subnet dia-
log box opens. Here, you can change the name of the new subnet or confirm
the default setting by clicking on OK.
5. The newly created Ethernet subnet is now in the Properties – C230-2 Ethernet
Interface dialog box under Subnet, and must be selected.
