You can also operate the C230-2 without a Micro Memory Card. The SIMOTION
Kernel is in the "Non-volatile system" of the C230-2 and you can load the technol-
ogy packages and user data from the Engineering System to the C230-2.
When the power supply is turned off, the contents of the "Volatile data" area are
lost.
When the power supply is switched on, the following data is still present on the
C230-2:

Data in the "Non-volatile data" area
– Diagnostics buffer
– Baud rate
– PROFIBUS DP addresses of the C230-2
– IP address, subnet dialog box and router address of the C230-2
– Retain variables
The technology packages and user data (configuration, programs, parameteriza-
tions) have to be loaded either from the Engineering System or a Micro Memory
Card.
