It is recommended that all chapters of this manual be reviewed prior to product use. Carefully read the Safety Tips section in
the Introduction chapter of this manual prior to placing a patient on the KinAir MedSurg Pulse System.

PREPARATION FOR PATIENT PLACEMENT

1.
Plug Power Cord into a properly grounded wall outlet.
NOTE: Do not use an outlet controlled by a wall switch.
2.
Level bed. Lock caster brakes.
3.
Press POWER ON / OFF button on Auxiliary Control Panel to activate air supply to the bed.
4.
Configure bed, as required: (add pillows, blankets, accessories, etc., to the weighed portion of the bed).
NOTE: Do not attach I.V. bottles or Foley bags to the unit when using the Built-In Scale. A separate stand should be
used to support I.V. bottles and Foley bags since their weight changes significantly during patient's stay.
5.
Calibrate Scale to zero:
Press C / ZERO on the Bed Exit / Scale Control Panel.
The LED will display the message, as shown at right.
Press the A / HOLD button corresponding to YES.
Scale will begin weighing. The LED will display the message, as shown at right.
6.
Press AIR ADJUST; LED flashes.

Refer to Auto Program Selection Guidelines below:
Locate the height value corresponding to that of the patient (chart on next page).
Look across table to column that relates to patient's sex and note the weight corresponding with the patient's height.
If the patient's weight is less than or equal to the value listed, press the TALL PATIENT button under the
corresponding patient weight range.
If the patient's weight exceeds the value listed, press the SHORT PATIENT button under the determined patient
weight range.
If the patient's weight falls on the borderline between weight ranges, it may be necessary to manually adjust the
established AUTO PROGRAM settings to suit the patient's requirements. For instructions for the manual air adjust
feature, refer to the Air Pressure Adjustment section in this chapter, as well as related sections in the Operating
Instructions chapter in this guide.
8.
Press AIR ADJUST button to exit Air Adjust.
