2. Turn INSTAFLATE / MEMORY RETURN knob clockwise to create a firm surface.
NOTE: You may silence the InstaFlate Alarm by pressing ALARM SILENCE.
3. Lock brakes on both bed and chair.
4. Lower Side Rails and store them under frame by pushing them in toward the center of unit.
5. Press HEAD UP arrow on Main Control Panel to raise patient support surface to full upright position.
6. Press FEET DOWN arrow to lower foot of patient support surface to full down position.
7. Press the SEAT DEFLATE ON / OFF button located on each side of frame or on the Auxiliary Control Panel.
NOTE: Alarm will sound after 12.50 minutes. If more time is required, you may silence the alarm by pressing ALARM
SILENCE, which will provide an additional 12.50 minutes of quiet.
8. Assist patient to side of unit.
NOTE: His or her feet should hang over the side of the unit, and he or she will sink to the base boards.
9. Transfer patient to the chair, following all applicable safety rules and institution protocols.
10. Press the SEAT DEFLATE ON / OFF button to reinflate Seat Cushions to preset pressures.
NOTE: Refer to the Power ON / OFF section in the Operating Instructions chapter of this manual, if patient will not be
returning to the bed.

AIR PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT

1. Verify proper air pressure adjustment, using the following methods:
•
Allow a cradling effect, approximate 40% depression into cushions where patient lies.
•
Perform a hand check beneath the head, shoulders, hips and heels:
•
Slide hand under Cover Sheet and beneath cushions to rest on Cushion Support Surface.
•
Lift hand slightly, verifying approximately 4 inches of air is supporting the patient.
2. Manually adjust air pressure, as needed:
•
Press the AIR ADJUST button on the Main Control Panel to enable manual air adjustment.
•
Using the INFLATE / DEFLATE arrows for the corresponding region, adjust the target pressures as needed.
•
Press the AIR ADJUST button to disable manual air adjustment.
NOTE: Allow sufficient time for cushions to respond to air pressure adjustments.
3. Verify air pressure adjustments, checking cradling effect and using the hand check.

PULSE OPERATION

Pulse operation is activated by pressing the PULSE button on the
Auxiliary Control Panel:
