Figure 40: VRC Rear Panel
Alarm Circuits
The MPS 1000 provides two alarm circuit connections through the VRC rear panel. These consist of
single-pole, double-throw relay contacts that can be accessed by software, see
Interfaces
on page 239.
Keyboard/Video/Mouse Switching
MPS 1000 configurations can consist of one or more MPS 1000 cabinets, each containing multiple
servers. A Keyboard/Video/Mouse (KVM) switch is used to connect a single keyboard, video, and
mouse to all the servers in a cabinet.
• In a multiple-cabinet configuration, select both the console switch port and the server in the
cabinet.
• In a single-cabinet configuration, select only the server in the cabinet.
To connect the KVM to a specific server:
• In a multiple cabinet configuration, use the KVM menu to select an input port on the Console
Switch; this determines which MPS 1000 cabinet connects with the KVM.
• Select a server that resides in the cabinet by either of the following methods:
- Press the Unit Select button located on the server to which you want to connect.
- Press <SHIFT><NUMLOCK><NUMLOCK>, type the number of a server, and press
<RETURN> on the KVM keyboard.
This determines which server in an MPS cabinet connects with the KVM.
A green light near the server Unit Select button indicates that the server and KVM are connected.
Refer to the MPS Speech Server Reference Guide for more detailed instructions.
