Raised Floor Access

Installations requiring below-cabinet cabling must have the access hole precut before the system is
put in place. The access hole is a 4 x 9 inch opening located as shown on
Cutout Pattern
on page 42.

Cabinet Weight

Caution:
A fully loaded Speech Server cabinet can weigh over 1500 lbs (655 kg) for a single cabinet.
Ensure that your site can support this weight.
Each server weighs 28 lbs (12.7 kg) fully loaded for a total of 672 lbs (304 kg). The addition of a
Passport 8610 adds a maximum of 375 lbs (170 kg) for a total of 1047 lbs (474 kg) plus the power
units and console system. This can total 1500 lbs (655 kg).

Installing Earthquake Bracing

The MPS 1000 system is certified to two of the most stringent seismic specifications for concrete
floor mounting: Bellcore and California OSHPD.
Depending on the geographic location, the MPS 1000 floor installation method may not require
seismic bracing. To meet seismic bracing requirements, the installation must meet the Bellcore or
the California OSHPD installation specifications. In locations that do not have earthquakes, securing
the cabinets to the floor utilizing a non-seismic installation is acceptable.
In certain seismic-approved applications where the system attachment to the floor is required, but
Avaya does not offer the appropriate hardware, the organization must contact a seismic engineering
firm to install the MPS 1000 to meet Bellcore or California OSHPD requirements. This application
can include attachment to a raised wood or steel floor.
Note:
The expansion anchors supplied with the MPS 1000 secure the system to the floor and are
designed to withstand most earthquakes.
