Requirements for operating the tag functions

In order to execute read and write operations, you must
● have configured the RF-MANAGER,
● observe the distance limits between the reader and the tag.
Configuration of RF-MANAGER
Configuration of the RF-MANAGER is carried in the RF-MANAGER. For detailed
information, please refer to SIMATIC RF-MANAGER 2008 Operating Manual
(http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/25332237)
Distance limits to be observed between the reader and the tag
For detailed information, please refer to SIMATIC RF300 System Manual
(http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/21738946).
Note
Transmission gaps with the RF300 tags because the distance between reader and tag is too
small
If the distance between reader and tag is too small, a transmission gap may occur directly on
the surface of the RF310M read head in the center of the field. Communication with the
transponder is not possible in the transmission gap.
You can avoid a transmission gap by observing a minimum distance of 2 mm.
Note
Errors when reading and writing due to several tags in the field of the SIMATIC RF310M
Tags that follow each other closely, and are therefore in the area of the SIMATIC RF310M at
the same time, can cause errors in reading and writing tag data.
Please ensure when executing the tag functions that the minimum distances from
transponders are observed, that is, distances between 100 and 500 mm depending on the
tag type. (See System Manual for SIMATIC RF300 or MOBY D > Plan system > Field data).
