7.11 Password Security Feature
In normal operation, your VAXstation 3100 Model 48 allows
all console operator privileges, such as HALT, SET, DEPOSIT,
EXAMINE, etc. Some customers require that direct access to
memoiy and kernel system operation be restricted to authorized
personnel only. Tb implement this restricted access, a password
security feature is available in console access and operation.
A password security feature can be initiated by using the console
command LOGIN, which is not the same as the VMS LOGIN
command. The system will ask for a password, after which access
to privileged console commands will be allowed only to users
possessing the password code.
