can all be connected at the same time, when all required options have been
activated.
Most of the Talon Ultimate ports are hot swappable. Some drives are not hot
swappable. Please check with the drive manufacturer to find out if the drive
being used does not support hot swapping.
2.2.3 Using USB/FireWire/eSATA drives or enclosures
The following are recommended when using USB, FireWire, and/or eSATA drives
or enclosures:
•
•
2.2.4 Connecting PCIe/mPCIe/M.2 drives
An optional PCIe adapter kit (part number F-ADP-PCIE-KIT) is available for the
PCIe enabled Talon Ultimate (F-TALON-U-P or F-TALON-U-I-P). PCIe, Mini PCIe,
and M.2 (NVMe, AHCI, and SATA) drives can be connected using this kit.
2.2.5 Connecting an external Optical Drive (CD/DVD/Blu-ray)
With software release 2.0 and above, an optical drive can be connected to the
Source USB port. The Talon Ultimate can then image the contents of the CD,
DVD, or Blu-ray disc.
Logicube Talon Ultimate™ User's Manual
The Multi-Task Option is required to perform more than one
task at a time. See information box above for additional
options that may be required for use of the Destination ports.
When disconnecting drives, it is very important to
make sure the drives are not being used on any
task. Disconnecting drives while the Talon Ultimate
is using the drive for a task may cause data loss.
For forensic purposes, it is recommended to wipe external drives prior to
using them as Destination drives.
It is recommended to leave the drive inside the enclosure. These
enclosures may have an on-board controller that may be necessary to
read the drive properly. Taking the drive out of the enclosure could cause
any device (including computers) not to read the drive contents properly.
Although most USB optical drives should work, Logicube
has tested and qualified the following optical drive:
- Pioneer BDR-XS06
Multisession support: The Talon Ultimate supports imaging
from a multisession CD (as a Source). However, forensic analysis
software may not support reading the multisession data. Please
check with your forensic analysis software manufacturer to find
out if it supports reading multisession data from CDs.
