2.1 Turning the Talon Ultimate on and off The Talon Ultimate comes with a 12V grounded, 11.5A (output DC) power supply that connects to the back of the device. Attach the included power supply to the Talon Ultimate’s DC power port in the back.

When bad sectors are encountered on the Source drive, Talon Ultimate can either skip the bad sectors or abort the imaging operation. This type of operation allows the hashing of any connected drive using one of the following algorithms: SHA-1, SHA-256, or MD5. Case (Image) files created by the Talon Ultimate can also be verified. There are four selections when performing a Hash or Verify: Mode, Drives / Case, Settings, and Case Info.
Tap the Hash Values icon to set the hash method (SHA-1, SHA- 256, or MD5) and to set the expected hash value (if desired). Setting the expected hash value instructs the Talon Ultimate to hash the drive then verify the hash with the expected value set.
Talon Ultimate to hash the drive using the selected algorithm in the previous step. The Talon Ultimate will use the result as the expected value. If a value is entered, the Talon Ultimate will hash the selected drive and verify hash with the value entered/edited.

Using the web interface gives the ability to open files that the Talon Ultimate cannot preview by downloading the file to a computer (where the Talon Ultimate is being browsed from).
The log files may contain a “partial hash”. This hash is for Talon Ultimate’s internal purposes only and cannot be validated by any other means. The partial hash is a snapshot of the hash engine at the end of each segment file which the Talon Ultimate can use to catch transfer errors and re-try if neede From this screen, log files can also be deleted one at a time or all at once.

This is the default configuration of the Talon Ultimate and is used to reset the Talon Ultimate to the factory default settings. This screen shows all user profiles for the Talon Ultimate. There are three selections in this screen: New – Allows the user to create a new profile name.

PREVIEWING DRIVES 6.3 USB The Talon Ultimate can also be connected to a computer through USB (the USB 3.0 port is on the front of the Talon Ultimate). To use this method, a drive must be engaged from the Talon Ultimate using the USB Device mode of operation.
