Purging the lubrication system

Safety
Ensure that oil lines are connected correctly and secured and that the oil

cooler (if fitted) is in the suction line (1) between the oil tank and the oil
pump. Verify that the oil tank is filled up to the maximum level (to the top
of the flat portion of the dipstick). Additional oil (up to 0.5 litre
(0.13 USgal)) may be added to the tank for the purpose of this procedure.

Always allow engine to cool down to ambient temper-
ature before starting work.

engine will result in severe engine damage.
Step
Disconnect oil return line (2) from the oil tank.
Place the free end (3) of the return line into a suitable container (4) below
the engine.
Plug open connection (5) on oil tank with suitable air tight cap.
Remove the spark plug connectors.
For easier rotation of engine remove one spark plug from each cylinder.
NOTICE
Using a compressed air line, pressurise the oil tank through its breather
connection (6) (on the neck of the tank). Adjust the compressor outlet reg-
ulator so that the air line pressure is between 0.4 bar (5.8 psi) and 1 bar
(14.5 psi). Do not exceed 1 bar (14.5 psi).
Non-compliance can result in serious injuries or death!

WARNING
Do not remove the oil tank bayonet cap before ensur-
ing that air pressure has been completely released
from the tank.
Procedure
Prevent any foreign objects entering through spark
plug hole.
