7.1 Multiple channels per module

Repeater modules contain 1 or 2 channels. Fig. 50 illustrates a 2 channel repeater module. Every channel can
be assigned to a specific backplane network by means of the NW dipswitches or the web server.
NOTICE:
Since March 2014 the 2 Channel modules are fitted with new, more robust screw terminals.
Old modules: The channels (CHx) have 2 screw terminals (IN and OUT, for the bus connection) and a
termination switch.
New modules: The channels have 1 screw terminal and a termination switch. In most cases, the channel
starts here so the termination must be set to 'ON'. If the channel is not the beginning, use the DB9
connector, see paragraph 3.11.2. Alternatively, use the dual ground clip (supplied with the new models) to
install two cables in one screw terminal, see Fig. 26.

ProfiTrace OE is able to monitor 4 PROFIBUS networks with 2 units of 2 channel repeater modules.
The DB9 connector is connected 1-on-1 to the connectors of channel 1 (see Fig. 50).
