This section describes the Dial Plan configuration file and tells you how to
manage it.
The information in the Dial Plan configuration file represents only one
aspect of the NBX 100 database. The NBX 100 contains a default
database (including a 3-digit dial plan), initially loaded at the factory and
reloaded if you purge the database.
Changes you make to any NBX 100 system settings, including changes
made by importing a modified dial plan configuration file, are reflected in
the most recent version of the database. When you reboot the system, it
loads the most recent version of the database. If you save (back up) the
current database, you can restore it later, and you can restore any
previously saved version, including versions older than the most recent
one.
3Com recommends that you save each version of the database using a
file name that is unique and contains the date and time of the save. This
enables you to restore any previously saved database you choose.
The NBX 100 database includes all of the settings necessary for the
system's operation, including:
IP and MAC addresses for the NCP, telephones, and line cards.
I
Auto attendant definitions and menus.
I
Dial Plan configuration file information.
I
Voice mail settings and messages.
I
Telephone extensions.
I
Hardware configuration information.
