You can use this process to change the extension number of devices you
select. Normally, you use this procedure only after you have changed the
extension ranges for the NBX 100, in order to align the extensions with
the new ranges.
Be very careful when you use this change process. The NBX 100 does not
validate changes you make here, and there is no Undo or Cancel
function. A mistake can compromise the operation of the NBX 100.
Managing Extensions and Extension Lists
Purpose
Default extension that the NBX 100 assigns to an external
line (analog or digital) during the auto discovery process.
The NBX 100 must direct each incoming call (on an external
line) to an extension. During the auto discovery of external
lines (analog lines and Digital Line Card channels) the NBX
100 assigns the default extension (500) to all incoming
lines. After you import the Dial Plan configuration file, and
complete the auto discovery process, you can manually
configure the extension for each analog line and each
Digital Line Card channel, if you want.
In the current product release, you can not change the
default value (500) in the Dial Plan configuration file.
In Keyset mode (example: a button on the Business
Telephone directly accesses an outside line) the NBX 100
must be able to check Class of Service (CoS). The system
prepends the External Keyset Prefix value (typically 8 or 9)
when making a call in Keyset mode. The NBX 100 then
uses the appropriate 8 or 9 entry in the Dial Plan to control
the call and check CoS.
