FRONT WHEEL/SUSPENSION

STEERING STEM

REMOVAL
Remove the headlight (Page 11-4).
Remove the instruments (Page 11-5).
Remove the front wheel (Page 11-9).
Remove the headlight case bracket.
Remove the handlebar (Page 11 · 7).
Remove the steering stem nut.
Remove the front forks (Page · 1 1-13).
Remove the fork bridge.
Remove the bearing adjustment nut.
Remove the steering stem, top cone race, steel balls
and bottom cone race.
Remove the ball races with the special tool.
NOTE
If the motorcycle has been involved in an
I
accident, examine the area around the steer­
ing head for cracks.
