BATTERY/CHARGING SYSTEM
BATTERY
REMOVAL
Remove the right side cover.
Open the battery holder.
Disconnect the negative and positive wires at the
connectors.
Remove the battery.

TESTING SPECIFIC GRAVITY

Test each cell with a hydrometer.
SPECIFIC GRAVITY: 1.270-1.290

NOTE
• The battery must be charged if the specific
gravity is qelow 1.260.
• The specific gravity Varies with the tem­
perature as shown in the accompanying
table.
• Replace the battery if sulfation is evident
or·if the space below the cell plates is filled
with sediment.
� WARNING
The battery contains sulfun'c acid.
A void contact with skin, eyes, or clothing.
Antidote: Flush with water and get prompt
medical attention.
