INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT
Wash the element in non-flammable or high flash
point solvent and allow to dry.
NOTE
D o not wash the element in gasoline or vege­
table oil.
Soak the element in clean engine oil or gear oil
(SAE 80-90) and squeeze out any excess.
Install the element air cleaner cover.
Install the left side cover.

Disconnect the spark plug cap.
Clean any dirt from around the spark plug base.
Remove and discard the spark plug.
Measure the new spark plug gap using a wire-type
feeler gauge.
SPARK PLUG GAP: 0.7-0.8 mm
(0.028-0.031 in)
Adjust by bending the side electrode carefully.
With the plug washer attached, thread the spark
plug in by hand to prevent crossthreading.
Tighten the spark plug another 1 /2 turn with a
spark plug wrench to compress the plug washer.
Connect the spark plug cap.
