CHECKING THE OIL PUMP IDLE GEAR
1. Check:
• Oil pump drive gear
Damage/wear → Replace the oil pump idle
gear, oil pump driven gear and clutch housing
as a set.

CHECKING THE OIL PUMP
1. Check:
• Oil pump driven gear "1"
• Oil pump housing "2"
Cracks/damage/wear → Replace the defec-
tive part(s).
2. Measure:
• Inner-rotor-to-outer-rotor-tip clearance "a"
• Outer-rotor-to-oil-pump-housing clearance
"b"

clearance
0.120 mm (0.0047 in)
Limit

Outer-rotor-to-oil-pump-housing

0.09–0.17 mm (0.0035–0.0067 in)

• Oil pump operation
Rough movement → Repeat steps (1) and
(2) or replace the defective part(s).

1. Check:
• Relief valve "1"
• Spring "2"
Damage/wear → Replace the oil pump as-
sembly.

ASSEMBLING THE OIL PUMP

1. Lubricate:
• Inner rotor
• Outer rotor
(with the recommended lubricant)
Recommended lubricant
Engine oil
2. Lubricate:
• Oil pump driven gear
(with the recommended lubricant)
Recommended lubricant
Engine oil
3. Install:
• Inner rotor "1"
• Outer rotor "2"
• Oil pump driven gear "3"
• Pin "4"
• Oil pump cover "5"
