INSTALLING THE DRIVE CHAIN

1. Install:
• Drive chain
• Drive chain guide
• Drive sprocket cover
TIP
Route the gear position switch lead, oil pressure
switch lead, and fuel tank breather hose through
the guide on the drive sprocket cover. Refer to
"CABLE ROUTING" on page 2-35.
2. Adjust:
• Drive chain slack
Refer to"ADJUSTING THE DRIVE CHAIN
SLACK" on page 3-17.
Drive chain slack
35.0–45.0 mm (1.38–1.77 in)

NOTICE
A drive chain that is too tight will overload
the engine and other vital parts, and one that
is too loose can skip and damage the swing-
arm or cause an accident. Therefore, keep
the drive chain slack within the specified lim-
its.
