7-3 Functions of Pulse Generation Mode

7-3-20 Positioning using the FIFO buffer

• This module (NP1F-MP1/MP2) has an FIFO buffer (4 stages per axis) and can pre-read the positioning data for a
maximum of 4 steps.
• The following data or signal can be registered in the FIFO buffer.
1) Frequency data
2) Command pulse count data
3) Signed data
4) Interrupt mode select

Number of data in
FIFO buffer
• Positioning using FIFO buffer data is a constant-speed motion (except interrupt positioning).
• When the interrupt mode is selected, operation is stopped once at the preceding step. Operation is then resumed
in interrupt mode.
• When the moving direction is to be reversed, reversing is made after the positioning in the current direction is
completed.
• Even while the command pulses are being output, data can be written in the FIFO buffer.
• Even while moving using FIFO buffer data, frequency data can be continuously updated by the speed change
command.
• On the module side (NP1F-MP1/MP2), when the speed change command is "0," frequency data is written into the
target frequency register at the change-over of steps.
• While operating using FIFO buffer data, do not add pulses to the command pulse register. If added, the speed
change-over point may differ from the expected point.
• At the starting point of each step, the FIFO buffer is cleared, one stage at a time.
