Section 1 Overview 1-1 Function List SPF series basic unit has a built-in high-speed counter. The table below lists the main functions. Function NA0Po14o NA0Po24o NA0Po32o NA0Po40o NA0Po60o No. of channels *1 Max. 8 channels • 90-degree phase-differential two-phase signal Pulse input format •...
Section 2 Specifications 2-1 High-speed Counter Operation 2-1-1 Counter mode The high-speed counter has three types of counter modes. The table below shows the operations of each mode. Counter mode Up count (+1) Down count (-1) Assign an input (X ) of Forward pulse 1 multiplication the basic unit to the...
Section 2 Specifications 2-2-2 Delay timer mode In “Delay timer mode”, 0.1ms internal clock is used instead of high-speed counter input utilizing the hardware of the high-speed counter. You can use the high-speed counter as a high-speed delay timer with 0.1ms of base time. However, note that the high- speed counter and delay timer cannot be used in the same channel at the same time.
Section 2 Specifications 2-2 Input Specifications For count signal input, the input on the basic unit is used. The table below shows the input specifications of the basic unit. Function High-speed DC input Medium-speed DC input Low-speed DC input Rated voltage 24V DC Input signal Voltage (tolerance)
Section 2 Specifications (3) Direction signal Attribute: R/W This flag is used in “Command pulse (A-phase) + Direction signal (B-phase)” mode. Address Name Description Expert Standard %MX3.61536.0 L615360 CH0 Direction signal (by software) %MX3.61536.1 L615361 CH1 Direction signal (by software) %MX3.61536.2 L615362 CH2 Direction signal (by software)
Section 2 Specifications (5) High-speed counter match flag Attribute: R Address Name Description Expert Standard %MX1.61489.0 M614890 Match flag CH0 This flag can be used only for an event address of "Event task". %MX1.61489.1 M614891 Match flag CH1 The event task is executed if this flag is assigned to an event address &...
Section 3 Programming 3-1 Parameter Setting In the high-speed counter parameter setting of the basic unit, specify the channel to be used, counter mode and digital filter time of the input. This subsection describes how to set them. 3-1-1 High-speed counter setting <Setting procedure>...

Section 3 Programming • Once “CLR” is turned ON, the current value is continuously cleared until “CLR” is turned OFF. The high-speed counter (Hardware register) is immediately cleared when “CLR” is turned ON. However, the cleared value (hardware register value) is reflected to the counter current value register (special register) at the end of the scan.
Section 3 Programming (4) R_HSC_LATCH High-speed counter current value latch FB 1) FB format Expert Standard R_HSC_LATCH R_HSC_LATCH V1 (EN) (Q) V4 WV2 (HSC_POS) (ERROR) V5 HSC_POS ERROR V3 (SW_LATCH) (L_STS) V6 SW_LATCH L_STS (L_DATA) DV7 L_DATA Parameter Name Data type Description While this signal is ON at the execution of the instruction, Latch enable...
Section 4 Wiring 4-1 Notes on Wiring The input signal of the high-speed counter is susceptible to noise. When performing wiring, note the following points. • Input signal cable shall be as short as possible, be separated from the cables of other devices, and not be wired together with such cables.
Section 4 Wiring 4-2-2 Example of using external 24V DC power supply External device B-phase A-phase External device +24V Common 24V+ 24V- 24V DC Max. 400mA can be supplied. * When using an external power supply, do not wire the 24V DC power supply of the SPF basic unit.
