Pro-Bel ltd
Technical manual
A PC program provides a terminal emulation option to allow on-line changes to
the system, the ability to upload/download system configuration data and an
editor to edit/store database files stored on the PC disk.
Any terminal may be attached to the RS232 Configure port (try using your
Psion3C!).
Editing will not prevent operation of the other peripheral activities.
No off-line changes can be made - the idle controller is purely perceived as a
backup.
The system provides a local help facility consisting of a screen dump display of
the command library and a line description of individual command formats.
• 6.7 Configuring the database
Two databases are implemented - one editable and one not. The editable database
only can be updated from the PC based editor. The non-editable database resides
in FLASH EPROM and contains default data that cannot be edited.
On power up the editable database in NVRAM will be validated. This will comprise
of a range check for each parameter and a database checksum test. If an error is
detected then the whole database will be filled with default data.
